The flora of seed plants of Bamian Mountain was systematically studied and analyzed, the flora character and origin were discussed, providing a scientific basis for provide the sustainable development and utilization of Bamian Mountain. The result are as follow:1. The basic composition of floraAccording to the survey, there are 1632 species of wild seed plants in Bamian Mountain, which belong to 171 families and 727 genera in Bamian Mountain, taking 81.04% in family, 50.24% in genus and 33.11% in species of Hunan, take 49.71% in family, 22.83% in genus and 5.69% in species of China. There are 59 species of rare and endangered plants, including 4 species national level of protection plants and 14 species second-class national protected plants, 41 species Orchidaceae plants. The familys including less genus dominated( 72 family, 42.35%), the family including one species dominated( 94 family, 55.29%). In genus, the genus including one(398 genus, 55.05%) and less species( 271 genus, 37.48%) dominated.2. Floristic characterThe study proved that the floristic characteristic of Bamian Mountain is central subtropics transiting to south subtropics, belonging to northward streching of the south of China flora. In flora composition, the tropical distribution component almost equaled to the temperate distribution. The dominating distribution are pantropical and variant distribution(115 genus, 16.76%), East Asia and variant(106 genus, 15.45%), North temperate and variant distribution(100 genus, 14.58%), Tropical Asia and variant(91 genus, 13.26%). Although no endemic family distribution in Bamian Mountain, there are 25 Chinese endemic genera, accounting for 10.3% of the total Chinese endemic genera, and 2 endemic species, which are Phyllagathis guidongensis K. M. Liu sp. nov. and Impatiens polyneura. The discovering of Phyllagathis guidongensis and other tropical elements proved the connection between this area and the south of China flora, showing the character of northward streching of the Tropical flora.3. Floristic originThe result suggested that the origin this area is ancient, south China flora, central China flora and east China flora concentrate and penetrate in this area. Though influenced by the central China flora and east China flora, it is the northward streching of the south of China flora. The existing of many tropical elements support the connection between this area and south China flora, this area origin from subtropics.4. New discovery of big population of endangered species Panax japonicusPanax japonicus C. A. Mey. mainly distributed in China, Vietnam, Myanmar, Nepal, Japan and Korea.Though distributed in many place in China, the wild plants became less and less because of immoderately collecting, habitat destruction and low natural regeneration, Panax japonicus has been endangered. A great growth status nature population, which including more than 100 individual, found in this research, which is the biggest population in Hunan Province or China. It will contribute to get more information on the living status, and be helpful on protection and population recovery.5. New discovery of floristic1 new species belongs to Melastomataceae was found, named Phyllagathis guidongensis Liu K. M. sp. Nov., 4 new species of the plants distribution, Impatiens fenghwaiana Y. L. Chen, Impatiens wuyuanensis Y. L. Chen, Impatiens platysepala Y. L. Chen, Boerhavia diffusa L.. These found new species and distributions, to some extent, which enriched the floristic data of the flora of hunan.
