Pingjiang Mufu Mountain which covers an area about 6468km2 with 16. 8km from South to North and 10. 8km from East to West and sea level from 100m to 1596m, is located at Hunan province between 113° 46' 52"-113° 54' 6"E and 8° 53' -29° 6' N. And the mountain is as famous as Xuefeng Mountain and Wuling Mountain in Hunan province. There are 28 formations subjected 3 vegetation type groups belonging to 3 vegetation type groups. Some taxa , including 9 species ie. Viola bulbosa, Saxifraga rufescens, Wikstroemia glabra, Philadelphus zhejiangensis, Ajania myriantha, Trigonotis coreana, Smilax sieboldii, Car ex capilliformis, Carex siderosticta and 1 genus ie. Ajania belonging to 8 families are reported as new records in Hunan province. There are 1437 species of seed plants belonging to 165 families and 699 genera in this area. The floristic characteristics are summarized as follows:1 ) The statistical analysis of the large families and genera demonstrates that preponderant families and genera are prominent elements in Mufu mountain.2) The analysis of the families distribution pattern demonstrates that they mainly consist of tropical families, and that the origin of flora has some tropical nature.3) Based on the analytic study of distribution patterns of genera, it is concluded that the flora of the Mufu Mountain is mainly temperate in nature. The tropical elements (283genera) is 47.5% and the temperate elements(350genera) is 50.07% of tatal genera, which shows that the transition of geographical elements ( form tropical and subtropical elements to temperate elements) is very clear. The value of T/R is higher than that of E. China and C. China, and many genera are monotype and oligotypic;and its archaic and relic nature are very obvious.4) Analysis of endemic species to China corroborates that this flora belongs ro the E.China region of the Sion-Japanese forestry subkingdom according to Wu CY (1979), but it has immediate correlation with C.China...
