A Preliminary Study Of Insect Fauna Characteristics And Diversity In Luoxiao Mountains, China

Luoxiao mountain range is one of the most integrate and original natural landscape zones in the subtropical area of China, even in the whole world. It contains rich ecological, biological and forest resources,what makes it a diverse gene bank for the species reproduction with huge value of developments and scientific researches. Due to the characteristic that insects have a large individual number, wide distribution, variable species and short generation, they become the perfect research material on species diversity.Up to now, systematic research on the insects of Luoxiao mountains does not exist yet. Only part of the mountains has been investigated, and what left still contains abundant resources for research. So the study on the insect fauna, species and variety of Luoxiao mountains has significant meaning for the research, protection and development of biodiversity.This study was conducted under the found of the basic work and special key project of the National Science and Technology. In the process of research, we consulted relevant documentations to the insects of Luoxiao mountains which published home and abroad. Besides, we checked more than 14000 samples from our lab which were collected from 15 reserves including Dawei mountain, Wugong mountain, Mufu mountain in Luoxiao mountains. At last, we discussed and sorted the insect resources systematically in that area and obtained the following results:1. This text analyzed the research on insect resources from Luoxiao mountains systematically for the first time.2. We identified 7 Order 47 Family 165 Genus 208 Species in the insect samples from Luoxiao mountains, and we input the data into EXCEL data base according to the overall requirements of the project.3. For each species, we conducted a brief description with collected information and overall feature plate.4. We summarized the species composition of the insect coenosis from Luoxiao mountains, also we analyzed the quantity distribution of the Families, Genus and Species of every Order. What’s more, we recorded the dominant Order, Family and Genus.5. We counted and compared the insects from Luoxiao mountains protection zones, and we figured out the insect distributions of every protection zone.6. We analyzed the composition of Luoxiao mountains fauna through literature review and checked the samples.7. We analyzed the variety of insects from Luoxiao mountains according to the biodiversity index such as Berger Parker dominance index,Margalef richness index, Shannon-Wiener diversity index, Pielou evenness index and Simposn dominant concentration index.
