Lifeline Engineering is a series of infrastructure which is extremely important tothe operation of society, including electricity, transportation, communication, waterconservancy and pipelines, etc. According to many earthquakes, once the lifelineengineering is destroyed, not only huge economic loss is caused, but also severe damageis brought into normal social order of production and life. What is worse, the subsequentrecovery or reconstruction work will be troubled, and that will make the disaster worse. After an earthquake, grasping the situation of the disaster quickly and evaluating the losseffectively can provide reliable basis for the repair or reconstruction. However, theconvenient method for lifeline damage loss assessment from a macro perspective islacked. In order to improve the technical level of seismic loss evaluation of lifelineengineering, by the statistical analysis of the information of historical earthquakedamage, a new method for lifeline damage loss assessment all over the country isdeveloped based on the seismic damage data and literature monographs in thisdissertation. In this dissertation, the main content is as follows:1. The background of selected topic and the significance of this research areintroduced, as well as the present development situation of earthquake disaster lossevaluation. At last the research ideas of this paper are given.2. The ratios between the economic loss of the lifeline system and other objects ofthe Southwest, Northwest and other regions are statistically analyzed.3. The ratios between the economic loss of the lifeline system and other objects ofthe whole country are statistically analyzed.4. The ratios of the economic loss between each system of the lifeline system andother objects of the Southwest, Northwest and other regions are statistically analyzed.5. This paper is summarized, and the development of this topic is prospected.
