With the development of social economy and the speeding up of urbanization, some cityis facing more and more serious traffic problems. The contradiction between human vehicleroad, the traffic and the environment, traffic accidents, etc. every country and city almost haveto face the same problem. For a long time, people to solve the traffic problems are donethrough improve road traffic infrastructure construction, however, with the increase of trafficdemand and the high requirements of the human development, transportation developmentmust combine with modern information technology and science and technology products, toestablish an efficient, fast traffic information system to manage the maintenance of trafficinformation, and provide transportation for human security is imperative. Research anddevelopment of city traffic geographic information system provides a reliable guarantee forthe target. This thesis puts forward the establishment of traffic information of geodatabase andto urban traffic based on the database of the exploring research of geographic informationsystem development, provide more technical reference and support city traffic geographicinformation system wide.This paper first describes the relationship between the geographic information system andthe geographical information system for transportation, and discusses the current situation ofthe development of traffic geographic information system at home and abroad. Secondly, therequirement analysis and system design with the principle of city traffic geographicinformation system, and constructs the system development flow chart. Then, according to thetechnical route of geographical data pretreatment of collecting traffic geographic informationsystem data needed and preprocessing of the creation process, complete background data setand traffic data set, the topological rules and network data set. Realize the city trafficgeographic information system Geodatabase database. Finally, based on VS2008and ArcGISEngine secondary development environment, construction prototype of city traffic geographicinformation system, its main function modules include: map display and basic operation, dataquery, spatial analysis and map elements of editing. The realization of this system, to speed upthe process of digital city traffic construction, to provide more convenient service for thepeople.
