A large number of complicated man-machine systematic accident statistics research indicate that human factor has become an overriding factor among the many other possible causes all the time. Its consequence is generally calamitous. Research verifies human error is the main cause of these accidents and about 80 percent of accidents relate to the human error. So, how to predict the human error that might happen in a complicated man-machine system and how to reduce and prevent it become an important issue. In order to accomplish it, all the human error factors should be identified. But up to now the domestic and international research on human error factor identification is just at its beginning stage and it needs a close attention and a more effective research manner.Human error factor identification plays a very important role to keep the complicated man-machine system safe and reliable. Its main purpose is to find out various human factors, system technology factors and organization factors which might initiate systematic trouble and human unsafe operation and predict the human error mode and probability that may appear in the system, thus to take effective precautionary measures to reduce the happening of the accident. On the basis of fundamental human error theories and the latest development of this field, this research has set up a human error factor identification technology by using the basic principle of cognitive reliability analysis according to joint cognitive system thought. It can be divided into three steps altogether: human error factor discerning, main human error factor confirmation and the relationship between human error mode and human error factors analyzing. The paper classifies complex man-machine system into two major parts of automatic control system and human when carrying on human error factors discerning.
