In a complex social - technology system, human error has become a main cause leading to accidents. The statistical data of domestic and foreign accidents indicate that the contributing rate of human error to accidents is about 80%. How to prevent human error and minimize the consequence has become an important issue needing an urgent treatment. All kinds of effective techniques of human error analysis arc therefore developed on the basis of the development of human error theory in order to effectively identify the possible erroneous actions, determine their seriousness, assess their probability, find their causes and put up the ways and strategies to prevent and restore error actions and so on. Undoubtedly, the technique of human error analysis is an important part in the field of human error. On one hand, the analysts are very difficult to select a suitable technique to carry on the incident or accident analysis because of its multiplicity, complexity, limitedly applicable conditions and lack of evaluation criteria. On the other hand, there are some differences of the incident or accident analytical consequences and actual ones because the techniques of human error causal analysis themselves have many flaws such as poor usability, lack of analysis framework and imperfect classification scheme et al, which does not help prevent human factor accidents from occurring. The concept and the classification of human error are the foundation of building the techniques of human error causal analysis. Human error is defined by the understanding of the characteristics of human error and on the basis of cause-effect principle, which benefit to distinguish active error from latent error. Through the induction and analysis of human error types, it is realized that a more all-sided classification system of human error is needed in order to fully analyze human error and address the causes and effects of human error. The paper classifies the technique on qualitative and quantitative basis. The qualitative...
