In the late 20th century, the conception of logistics was introduced into China. The experiences of the developed countries illustrate that comprehensive logistical center, which has powerful functions of collecting and distributing goods, plays a tremendous role in a regional economical development because of its covering a large commercial scope and its multifunction. However, with different backgrounds, different regions can take its economical future at stake if they just mechanically copy the experiences or economical models of other country or region. Hence, it is of realistic importance for us to study how to construct regional logistical centers under the background of China, which as a matter of fact is for Chinese an urgent task.Employing the primary principles of modern logistical theory and regional economics, the thesis first scrutinizes the status of the development of logistical distribution in the region of Changsha, Zhuzhou and Xiangtan. Then, drawing the experience of developed countries in terms of developing their logistical centers, the thesis analyzes the necessity and primary condition of developing the regional logistical center in Changsha, Zhuzhou and Xiangtan. Last, in the light of the logistical theories and corresponding practice, international and domestic, the thesis presents the author's thoughts about how to develop the regional logistical center in Changsha, Zhuzhou and Xiangtan. The thesis consists of six parts. The first part briefly introduces the background and aims of the author's study. The second part on the one hand examines the relation between logistical distribution and logistical center, the theory of regional economy development, regional economy and regional logistic, and on the other hand, analyzes the role of regional logistical centers in the process of developing regional economy. The fourth part postulates the potential amount of freight transport in Changsha, Zhuzhou and Xiangtan, and then presents the necessity and primary principles of constructing regional logistical center in Changsha, Zhuzhou and Xiangtan. The fifth part presents the some suggestions and measures about how to construct a regional logistical center in Changsha, Zhuzhou and Xiangtan.
