Fierce market competition and demanding product requirements from users make a rapid productupdate, which presents a elevated requirements of product development in an enterprise. It is keyto enhance competitiveness for an enterprise to develop low cost but high quality product in ashort period. For that, concept of concurrent engineering must be adopted to replace conventionaldeveloping mode with concurrent development of products.Under the application background of new construction product development, a productdevelopment mode that support concurrent engineering is presented on the basis of integratingframework of PLM to focus on managing structure, procedure management and environmentset-up after thorough analysis of existing problems in new product development and researchingsituation in related areas home and abroad. The main contents and results of the paper are asfollowing:(1) Requirements of concurrent product development to enterprise managing structure arestudied. It is suggested that the managing structure should be determined according to thedevelopment features of various construction machinery products. Preconditions for concurrentdevelopment members and management measures are also listed.(2) Characteristics of concurrent product development procedure are studied. An iterativeconcurrent product development model is set up and the procedure is optimized. A managementframework of concurrent product development procedure is suggested under the PLMenvironment. Item management, organization management, work flow management and resourcemanagement are conducted on the development procedure.(3) Environment features of concurrent product development are researched. Unified digitalproduct modeling and PLM based product development environment of enterprise informationintegration are presented.The concurrent product development mode discussed above is utilized in the development of roadmilling machine. Satisfactory application result is obtained. All are helpful theoretical study andattempt to further implement concurrent engineering in the enterprise.
