This article studies on the new product development of DPCA(Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroen Automobile Co., Ltd). According to the history of new product development it discusses the experiences and disadvantages of DPCA in its management of new product development. At the same time, it concludes the strategic stage of new product development in enterprises and the characteristics in the modern management of new product development of automobile. It mainly studies about the way of new product development of DPCA. The paper consists of four parts as following:The first part concerns the study of the new product development. First, by discussing the new product, the basic concept of the model of new product development, the meaning of new product's management. It considers that new product is the headspring of an enterprise's existence and development.In the second part, the paper reviews the function of new product development in the history of automobile development. By explaining the function of automobile new product development in the automobile enterprise's existence and development, it illustrates the importance of new product development. It also sums up the basic regulation of the automobile new product development from the world car development history.The third part analyses the experiences and shortages of DPCA's management of new product development. By analysing the following three stages of DPCA's new product development: car style importation, type changing development, platform importation and development in union, it explains that the new product development of DPCA is taking side of the general model of the world's development management.In the fourth part, it mainly discusses what kind model of new product development management DPCA should choose. By using the value chain theory, it discusses an important issue in the process of new product development management: how to control the cost and quality in the development of new product. On the other hand, by the theory of system, it argues how to establish and perfect the system of new product development.
