Tourism is regarded as a most promising industry at present. Its rate of development overpasses the average rate of the whole world's economic development. It has become one of the industries that develop at the highest speed in the world.The profound meaning of investigating the competition in tourism market bases on three points. Firstly, the research work will guide the development and management of the whole tourism industry. Secondly, the study on a tourism company which has appeared on market can set a typical example. Thirdly, the investigation on strategy-changing and strategy-making of a company has a challenging and profound meaning.The thesis takes Hai Lan Groups as a typical case. It has an all-round introduction to the inner and outer environment and the business situation of Hai Lan. It focuses on the methods this company faces the severe competition in tourism and expands its market. The thesis introduces "Harbin Polar Sea Natatorium" in detail, which is an important part of the company's market-expanding strategies. It also describes the direction of the market-expanding and points out the problem appearing in the process of market-expanding in a general and specific way.Poter's five models in competition and SWOT analysis method are applied inthis case study. Through the outer environment and inner conditions, the thesis gives an all-round analysis and evaluation to Hai Lan's market-expanding strategies. Moreover, the thesis uses financial, strategicand modern management theories to discuss the nuclear power of company's rival ability. According to the reality of the company, the thesis put up a new strategy used a specific and regional market for the company, that is , to decrease the cost and show features during the process of market-expanding. The thesis provides a new way of thinking for Hai Lan Groups in order to cultivate and increase the company's rival ability in the severe market.
