The rapid development of Internet has put forward higher demands for the performance of network. The traditional network can only provide'best-effort'service, which could not evidently satisfy the transmission quality requirement in real-time service of the voice and video etc. Traffic control is an important method of improve real-time service transmission quality in the IP network. Different service has different requirement of Quality of Service(QoS), so DiffServ (differentiated services) can provide different Quality of Service according to service requirement. Network processor IXP2350 has many kinds of interface, it is a kind of'programmable hardware system'which has excellent performance and high flexibility, fitting use implement multi-net Gateway and traffic control. Therefore, it is of great significance in applications to study the traffic control techniques of DiffServ and their implementation based on network processor.Firstly,the thesis introduce architecture of DiffServ and IntServ, the basic principle of queue management and scheduling etc correlated technology of networks traffic control, the hardware architecture and software development environment of network processor IXP2350 are analyzed in detail.Secondly, discussing the hardware system of the multi-net gateway, the function of the main module and implement architecture based on network processor IXP2350. Focus on achieving performance verification of control module based on multi-net gateway, accomplish traffic control module scheme designed of wireless sensor network and an improved algorithm to the ATM network traffic control module is proposed.Finally, on the basis of the further study of the traffic control theory of DiffServ, the hardware architecture and module function of DiffServ traffic control system are designed based on IXP2350, and part of the module finish designing and implementing based on the traffic control system. The traffic control module can offer different level of service according to priority of data package. Using simulation tool Workbench, simulation and function verification to the traffic control system module of IXP2350 DiffServ was performed. The experiments show that the module can improve and enhance the performance of IP networks.
