Coal is an indispensable resource. for China's economic development. China's attention to coal mine safety production has reached to an unprecedented high degree. But the mine accidents are still ongoing, which exposed the current loophole of the safety management and drawbacks of monitoring and control system. So, the high-performance, intelligent gas sensor is needed. The gas intelligent sensor, which uses the cutting-edge embedded microprocessor and FCS, is designed to solve the defects of the current monitoring system.This paper has designed a CAN-bus monitoring and control system and the intelligent sensor used LPC2131 belonged to ARM7 as its microprocessor on the base of analysis and learning of CAN-bus technology specification and communication protocols. Through the design of gas density data collection and processing module, concentration display module, limit alarming module, wings, circuit and interlocked breaker module and CAN-bus controller; the paper built a ARM-based hardware system. The paper also designed the software code, and at last verified the function and performance of assembled products though debugging and running. This intelligent gas sensor system that used in low gas mine can not only supply the real-time gas value, alarming and interlocked breaker, but also offers the datum to control centre aboveground, and receive datum from control centre. Those sensors constitute a monitoring and controlling network based on CAN-bus.Through showing and alarm experiments on the developed intelligent gas sensor, testing results show that: the sensor can achieve default function basically, can meet the needs of the environment and coal mine safety regulations in the relevant technical requirements; meet modern coal mine safety monitoring and control technology requirements; is advanced and practical, has important practical significance in enhancing production of coal mine safety.
