With the fast development of mobile communication technology, the forms of communication serve have been greatly diversified. As a mode of transmission, multimedia message has widely attracted mobile users, and it is also more and more frequently used in daily and work life. Multimedia message has changed the traditional mode of communication which merely transmits voice or words. With abundant visual effects, multimedia message not only largely increases the amount of information it conveys, but also brings unprecedented visual impact to users. Meanwhile, the industrial demand of multimedia message are rising sharply in finance, electronic business, media and so on, which brings a bright future to the development of multimedia message. The multimedia messaging service gateway (MMSG) links SP to the multimedia messaging service center(MMSC). The introduction of MMSG will relieve the stress of MMSC in which the whole network business SP switches. The operators have not built a large enough coverage for MMSG so far, and in MMS business, all the volume of the whole network SP business, except a part of the multi-point switching SP, switches in the few MMSC systems . It means that apart from the business volume in the province with a system can be distributed directly, the business in other provinces has to be shifted forwards the MMSG system where the users belong. With the business volume of the multimedia increasing dramatically, the MMSC systems are facing more and more pressure of shifting forwards. Therefore, building a province-level MMSG system is of strategic importance to reduce the stress of the system and to improve the function of transmission. This paper mainly studies how to build a high-quality MMSG system which can both relieve the shifting pressure of the systems in Beijing and Guangzhou, and reduce the costs to achieve the efficient transmission of multimedia message business. On the basis of an analysis of the traditional MMSG system, we theoretically propose the services and functions needed to be realized in order to rebuild the MMSG system, and the services and functions include the retransmission of incremental applicable messages, the certification and authentication of SP, business billing, routing and interconnection, the management of SP, business priority management, the blacklist at the system level, message cache, the search of logs and the formal analysis of basic functions like business statistics. After we get the theoretical results, the general constructing plan of the project will be proposed and parameters of each link will be normalized. Then comes the distributive calculation which will be the reference of future actual implementation. The theoretically calculating conclusion of this paper is that at each node of the newly built MMSG system, the hardware has the capability of 400 messages per second, and the software can authorize 250 requests per second. The traffic pattern has given thought to the group sending factors and the demands of business in monthly-pay and point-sending models. During the calculation of business volume, it is required that the MM business volume should be 1440000BHMM at the busiest moment, 7200000 messages in the busiest day, and 144000000 in the busiest month. According to requirement, when the hardware equipment can handle 400 MM per second, SGr should be 220 requests per second. Besides, this paper also discuss the calculating demands of storage capacity and bandwidth. This paper is aimed at optimizing the distribution of network resources in terms of coverage, storage and quality, and suggesting the primary conception of MMSG system at the province level. Through simulation experiments, we can also obtain the detailed plan of network construction and the establishment of related parameters in network operation, which makes adequate preparation for rapidly deploying the MMSG system. At the same time, the paper also analyses the disadvantages of the system's coverage and quality, which will offer basis and instructions to the optimization of the system after it functions, and serve as references for the decision-making of further engineering construction.
