With the development of digital TV broadcasting technology, the research and exploiture of digital TV receiving system has been a new direction of development. The Godson CPU has been abroadly applied in the area of embedded system for its advantages of low-cost and merged instruction level. The paper designed and implemented the satellite digital TV receiving system for Loongson with the 2E godson CPU platform.The paper presents a project of the DVB-S satellite digital TV receiving and processing system on the Godson-based platform. Using the PCI interface on the Godson-2E,combined with SHARP's BS2F7VZ0194a as the frontend tuner module and Philips's saa7130 which captures the TS stream, the entire system is designed in line with the DVB-S/MPEG-2 standards, fully utilizes the characteristic of the Godson-2E platform for decoding MPEG-2 with high performance, and can be used to Godson PC to receive and play satellite digital television programs. The advantage of the system, such as easy-to-use, simple structure, easy realization and low cost, makes it great significance for a wider range of industrialization application of the 3C amalgamation (Computer, Communication and Consumer Electrics) products based on the domestic processors. During the design and realization of the satellite digital TV receiving system, the exploiture and optimization of receiving system driver for special hardware is the keystone work, and the analysis of the received TV program stream occupied the main workload.This paper mainly worked over the fundamental of digital TV receiving system and its realization of the prototype system on Linux operation system for Loongson's DVB-S receiving system. Firstly, it gives a brief description of digital TV transmission and reception principles based on DVB standard, above what the whole hardware scheme for the receiving system is given. After a simple introduction to the system software platform and the Linux operating system, for the function modules of system the arrangement of software system and the main task for every segment are clearly presented, and the whole delamination structure of software system is given. Then the paper discussed the commonly method of developing device driver on Linux OS, and according to the digital TV receiving system device the paper particularly probed into the implementation of device driver on Loongson Linux OS. Afterwards, the analysis and optimization is carried through for the received TV program stream and the relevant testing with the core benchmark is made. Finally, the summarization for the process of research and exploiture of the whole system is presented and also the future work for the system to be more perfect is given.
