With the development of modern drilling technology, MWD has been applied more and more commonly. In geological survey and oil drilling, especially in the directional drillings and extended-reach horizontal wells, MWD is an indispensable tool for continuous monitoring of drilling trajectory and timely correction. Therefore, MWD is important to the theoretical study of drilling engineering and improvement of drilling efficiency.At the beginning, this paper was mainly focused on the theoretical analysis of twisting and pressure on the drilling collar by mechanics of materials. To ensure the strength of measure unit to meet the required, we analyze the maximum strain on the Patch structure under the different materials and security factors.Second, we used the knowledge of analysis of experimental Stress to determine the stickup method of the strain and the make-up of Wheatstone bridge. And we also completed the output's technology and research of Wheatstone bridge. At the same time, the position error of strain gauge by man-made was studied, the scope of the maximum allowable error from deviation angle was given, which was the theoretical basis for the following experiment.Finally,according to the knowledge of sensor calibration, we designed a WOB torque sensor calibration device, calculated and selected the hydraulic cylinder and pull pressure sensor and torque sensor use to calibration devices. By accessing information and products, we select the appropriate compression and processing devices and sensors. This can lay the foundation for the following calibration experiment of the designed sensors.
