By technique of modeling and simulation, developmental product model could be repeatedly simulated by computer, analyzed and checked, then further be improved designed. Consequentially, it could greatly shorten design cycle, depress design cost, and reduce risk and hazard of producing prototype and ground on prototype. And it could complete the test which some particularity system can't carry out by physical model. That tracked single module motor unit of chaining reconfigurable robot which is developed by Shenyang Institute of Automation, the Chinese Academy of Sciences is researched. It is researched by technique of modeling and simulation.At first, the body structure of chaining reconfigurable robot is analyzed. The 3D entity model of the Single Module Motor Unit and the chaining reconfigurable robot are set up by SolidWorks software. Then establish different ground, complete the trafficability simulation model of tracked single module motor unit. Build random curve pavement, design the suspension system part and mate them. Complete the vehicle comfort simulation model of it.Secondly, based on 3D model which is set up by SolidWorks, dynamics simulate to flexibility of tracked single module motor unit in COSMOSMotion which is a dynamics simulation plug-in unit in SolidWorks. Certificate the viability of trafficability simulation for simulation model.Finally, analyze the structure of suspension system; classify the suspension system from different side. And list some kind of typical tank suspension system. Compare the vehicle comfort of models without suspension system and with it. Provide use for reference of design and improvement for chaining reconfigurable robot.
