Up to present, abroad research on magnetic suspension mostly centralizes on EMS maglev vehicle. Some countries, such as Germany and Japan, have made great strides. EMS maglev vehicle technology began to tend towards practical application phase. In our country, research on magnetic suspension has begun since earlier 1980's. In addition, magnetic bearing, magnetic balance, magnetically levitated electric machines, and correlative technology applications have developed. High tech productions in foreign nations have already exploited and entered market.In this paper, a four-point attraction magnetic suspension system is designed and analyzed, the principle of each part of the magnetic suspension system is described in detail. The mathematic model of magnetic system is set up. By linearizing the mathematic model in the equilibrium point, the author gets the state function and transfer function of the system. On the basis of the mathematic model, the controllability and observeability are analyzed, several kinds of controller including linear states feedback controller, PID controller, P-FUZZY-PI controller, balance method controller are designed for the system. Some method and design steps of the controller are given. Simulations are made to the controllers, features and performance of each controller are gotten. Feasibility of each controller is analyzed. On the basis of experiment, the author proposes that to apply the balance method controller to the magnetic suspension system. At last, the application method and the control algorithm of the balance method controller are given.
