Design And Implementation Of Configuration And Management System Based On Command Line Interface For Secure Console Server

As the fast development of network technology, types of network devices are becoming more multiplex and complex, which is a great challenge for network management. Traditional in-band management can not satisfy people's requirements in network reliability because of its vulnerability to the influence of connected devices. So out-of-band management which detaches control channel from data channel is attracting more and more attention in and abroad because of its less failure in network management and more excellent network service in efficiency and cost compared to in-band management.After a study of international out-of-band management products, a set of out-of-band management system which is composed of console server and IPDU has been implemented. The security strategy as well as the design and implementation of configuration and management system based on command line interface for console server is specified in this thesis.The basic concepts of out-of-band management are introduced in the beginning of this thesis. Then console server is introduced, and the hardware architecture and software are described. As the backbone of network management, unavoidably there are some security problems, so authentication and encryption are used in console server to enhance its security performance. In addition, considering the performance, efficiency, integrality of functions and user requirements, the configuration and management system based on command line for the secure console server is designed and implemented. Finally a test report for security performance and the configuration and management system based on command line interface is presented in this thesis with some improvement ideas.
