During the last 10 years dramatic and rapid changes in Internet technologies and microelectronics have changed the world. More and more personal digital applications, like computer, mobile phone, DVD player, PDA, scanner come into our daily lives. Most of them are connected by cables, which become the bane of many offices, homes etc. So many cable-replacement technologies have been developed.Bluetooth is one of the popular technologies for short-range radio communications, originally developed as a cable replacement to connect portable devices. But now there are still not many bluetooth products off-the-shelf due to the high cost of the bluetooth chips.The nRF2401 chip produced by Nordic is a single-chip radio transceiver for the world wide 2.4 - 2.5 GHz ISM band. It is less than 3 US dollars each chip, and is short time to market. It can be applied widely, including wireless mouse, keyboard, joystick, keyless entry, wireless data communication automotive etc.Here a wireless short-distance communication system based on nRF2401 and SCM AT89C51RB2 is introduced. The system's hardware, software and the circuits are analyzed, as well the theory of the communication of the system. The system is functioning in the ShockBurst mode of nRF2401, which is controlled by AT89C51RB2, and it can realize full duplex communication. The key technologies include the initial configured of the nRF2401, the practical layout of the integrating digital circuitry and a RF chip on the same board. A plan with PA (Power Amplifier) is put forward, when the effective range of system is required to enlarge. The system is proved to run robust, easy to control and communicates stable.
