As a new means of communication, solar blind ultraviolet (UV) communication can be used for a variety of close anti-jamming communications environment, due to its excellent performances of safety, anti-interference and Non-Line-of-Sight(NLOS). In recent years, UV communication has been concerned by the military power.Based on based on the characteristics of UV atmospheric propagation, the paper studied and realized the UV communication modem and channel codec technologies, which are the key researched technologies in UVcommunication field.Firstly, four digital modulation schemes popular in optical wireless communication systems (OOK, PPM, DPIM and FDPIM) are compared based on bandwidth requirement, the average transmitting power, transmitsion capacity, bit error probability and code inteferent. FDPIM and PPM are chose as the modulation schemes.Secondly, three channel code technologies are campared based on coding gain, the implementation complexity of the codeing and decoding and bit error rate. By comparing, RS(15,9) is chose as the channel coding type.Finally, the hardware platform was designed based on FPGA-XILINX Virtex-4 XC4VSX35. On the platform, multi-rate and multi-mode modem and channel codec were implemented using the VHDL.
