Research On Live Broadcasting Of Disasters On TV

Due to its own characteristics, news of disasters will become the social focus a short time after the occurrence. The influence will bring great psychological impact on the audience. This event itself and influence of the news may easily arouse the desire of audience. Therefore, news coverage on disasters will have a strong news value. Live broadcasting can best embody one of the advantages of today's TV media. From the competition of television media, TV stations may receive favorable comments if they can conduct live broadcasting upon the occurrence of events and emergencies. Based on the performance of the correspondents in live reports of the earthquake happened in Wen Chuan in 2008,mainly in China Central Television, the thesis analyzes the performance of China's TV media, and puts forward some principles of the correspondents in live reports of disasters.The main contents of the present research are as follows:1.Take China Central Television for an example, the thesis analyzes the performance of China's TV media in the coverage of the earthquake in Wen Chuan. (1)The instant response to the event has become the live coverage which started the fastest in television history up to date. (2) The continuous work has become the longest live coverage in the history of China's television. (3) The most extensive coverage of the earthquake has made reports in depth. (4) The coverage has enhanced public trust, successfully led the international public opinion and shaped the national image.2.Combined with performances of correspondents in live reports in other news coverage of disasters, it is found out the problems appeared in TV coverage of disasters which are about the lack of humane care, the lack of journalistic skills and qualities and the journalism ethics.3.Aiming at the problems, the present research brings out some principles followed by correspondents in live reports.Firstly, human care should be focused on. Secondly, instantaneous response to disasters is vital, which means correspondents should reach the spots at once. Finally, correspondents should go to disastrous areas in person. In addition, the research quotes four strategies to response to natural disasters of foreign media which our television media may refer to.
