The subject of this abstract is the design of a platform for the storage and management of research data from the Minjiang drainage area. The platform will be designed for the convenience of the user based on a Browser/Server model and include many functions, such as GIS data storage management and exchange, uploading/downloading of research data, instant messaging and on-line communication. The platform will be patterned on the operation mode and appearance of popular O/S and will include a system support dragging window, dropdown menu, Desktop-Like web page with icon and thumbnails. The methodology is using a separate solution method between DIV+CSS structure and the design for page layout, and also support dynamic adding and modifying by using DOM document subject model solutions, namely implement a general module of Desktop-like windows to meet all kinds of internal programs.The programming using JavaScript scripting language captures the user mouse and keyboard events, it combines with the Document Object Model DOM methods on the corresponding HTML tags to operate within the page and complete a variety of drag, click, pop and other actions. It talks to the server side, using PHP language and Image Magic, Ghost Script and gdal plug-ins such as the method of combining, allowing users to upload only through the operation of a data file. It can complete a variety of GIS data and other research data, online storage and conversion (in this series operations are automatically handled within the system), while providing an example XML (SOAP), RSS and other rich useful data interface. It enables client and server communications, using an XML-based format and XML Http Request asynchronous communication means in order to achieve the whole page refreshed to update the case of the contents of the specified target region.Implementation of Minjiang drainage area Center Web-based application system for the future development has a very good reference. Its ergonomic design not only makes it easy for users to operate, it can easily incorporate existing procedures to add new applications. In the future, the underlying structure will be developed into a more complete and versatile Web OS system in the desktop generation product.
