At present, the study of virtual community has two directions: one is the non-scene support platform, where users communicate and share with each other. Another is the scene support platform, which usually provides users community magnificent scene roaming. Each of the two directions has its own disadvantages. In the first case, users usually only exchange with words on the non-scene support community platform, and so don't have the feeling of immersion. In the second case, because of rendering large scenes, the virtual community platform with scene support usually has the issue of platform performance. These all constrain the development of virtual community. With the continuous development of Internet technology, as well as we enter the era of Web2.0, the variety of key technologies of Web2.0 bring adequate support to geographic information system (GIS) and Virtual Reality (VR) for applying to the Internet platform, so two new Internet application technology WebGIS and Web3D come into being. In this thesis, we take full advantage of the Web2.0 key technologies to solve various issues which hamper the development of web-based virtual community with scene support. From software design, development architecture, performance optimization, etc, this thesis comprehensive discusses the building solution of the 3D virtual community construction based on Web2.0.(1) This thesis takes advantage of three layers architectural pattern to construct development model, which comprehensively takes high scalability and alternative of development into account, and uses several reasonable design pattern.(2) Taking advantage of WebGIS to render two-dimensional large-scale scene. For metro-level scene, using vector spatial data, for regional level scene, using raster spatial data to organize which is more expressive.(3) Taking advantage of Web3D to render three-dimensional scene. Three- dimensional scene is rendered to express the monomer construction; web3d technology can achieve such a small level of organization of three-dimensional scenes.(4) Taking full advantage of various optimization skills, from the web client to the server-side data query, to carry out full and comprehensive optimization. On Web2.0 era, client-side user experience is the focus of community building, so this thesis carries out a great deal of optimization on web client.
