SMT placement is one of the most important equipment in SMT assembly line, the research and development of placement was the main target of the leading international electronic equipment manufacture and company. In the placement machine control system, pick up the chips on the visual inspection is an important part of them. Multi-function SMT processes a verity of component packages, taking into account the various components in the shape and size differences. We propose a high technical requirements, the technology is on the SMT illumination. This subject is to study the SMT adaptive light background, selecting an image based on digital signal processor processing system as the research object, and having strong practical significance.SMT adaptive lighting system provides a suitable environment for the detected objects to create high-quality images. The traditional SMT adaptive light system uses light sensor matrix sense the current light environment. It combines with self-built light environment expert system database, controls the light source controller and the intelligent combination of light real-timely, and realizes the adaptive light function. In practice, due to the high cost and cubage of light sensors, it makes the system difficult to install and upgrades. And meanwhile, the system has a high size and cost.Taking into account the shortcoming of SMT adaptive light system, this paper proposes the use of DSP computing power and flexible addressing modes, combined with CPLD interface design in general and the advantage of a simple signal processing, using DSP and CPLD architecture design of the SMT adaptive light image process system.The main task of this paper is to build this based on DSP and CPLD's image processing system, and focus on the hardware design perspective, the design of intergrated logic control, image processing algorithms planning, micro-controller common interface and bus driver features high-speed image processing platform. With the help of TI CCS3.1 integrated development environment, system software design uses TI own image processing library functions to complete fast digital image processing. System software design consists of hardware interface layer, hardware driver layer and application layer three parts. It uses hierarchical design, combined with modular design to facilitate the migration and upgrade software. This will help improve the readability and maintainability of the software to make software design more stable.
