The rapid development China's clothing industry has expanded the demand of various industrial sewing machines and brought the development requirements of the sewing equipments upgrades. Currently domestic high-end, specialized sewing machine is lack in the independent innovation ability, core technologies, and self-owned intellectual property rights. Especially, the core electrical control components of Electro-Bar-Tacking Machine are heavily dependent on imports. Therefore, research and development of the electrical control components with self-owned intellectual property rights has a very important significance for sewing machine in China.This paper introduced the structure of control system, the control principle of spindle motor drive and feeding motor drive, and the system hardware and software design of three-axis motion control, by analyzing the Electro-Bar-Tacking Machine's principle and function.Referring to the hardware design, permanent magnet synchronous motor is established as the spindle motor and stepper motor is established as the feeding motor according to the performance of sewing equipment. Permanent magnet synchronous motor uses rotor flux oriented vector control technology and stepper motor uses subdivision control technology. The DSP (Digital Signal Processing) and FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array) are used as core device of main controller in control system. DSP uses TI's 32-bit fixed-point high-speed Digital Signal Processor TMS320F2812, and FPGA uses ACTEL's A3P060. AVR MCU ATmega8915L and Allego Company's A3986 are used as the nucleus part of the stepper motor control and driver model. Finally design the circuit of main controller, stepper motor driver, and control panel circuit.In software design, embedded operating system uC/OS-II is used as system development platform. The system is divided into function modules by the module-based software design. The main controller is partitioned into tasks and some main function modules are introduced.In the end of this paper the overall performance of the Electro-Bar-Tacking Machine has put into experiment and the result shows that the control system can work coordinated accurately and achieve the sewing pattern better.
