Because of Geographical dispersion,different hardware platforms and communication protocols,Traditional UPS shows the poor compatibility and manageability,so that UPS monitoring is often managed using manual inspections. With the further development of the network and user needs more personalizing, the requirements for UPS's application present high reliability, manageability and economic trends. Intelligent UPS emerges, its essence is that the traditional UPS connects with the hardware interface and combines with specially designed software to meet the requirements. How to monitor and manage the UPS effectively within the enterprise becomes the focus of this studyThis thesis uses the UPS based on ARM9 hardware platform and Microsoft .NET software platform for intelligent UPS LAN monitoring system. As an important part of the whole smart UPS solution, smart UPS LAN monitoring system is responsible for management and maintenance within the enterprise local area, collects and records the UPS running data for business analysis. Under the premise of security, it also provide services to other users on the Internet. Because of using unified platform and standard protocol, System bottlenecks will be solved effectively.This thesis first introduces the research background and significance of the subject, analysis the status of Smart UPS's domestic and foreign research, future development trends and prospects; then researches on the theory and technology related to the system, including the ARM9 chip, . NET platform, Visual C #, WinForm framework, MS SQL Server 2005.Thesis focuses on system design and implementation. Design features referring to system characteristics and design principles, combined with intelligent UPS total solution, built out of the system of technical architecture and logic structure; the system is divided into several modules and the core business processes are described. In implementation part, the focus of introduction is device Controlling including UPS real-time operating system cut out by Linux,, the data layer implementation ,XML-based package of information and commands.Finally thesis has performs system testing, summarizes innovative points of the research work and the work of author. It also brings the further research direction forward.
