The full manual mode of operation has lasted a long time in cargo inspection system, which is an important part in cargo railway system. It seriously affects the efficiency of the railway system. The cargo inspection terminal, a kind of embedded system, is to provide an automated solution, which can enhance cargo inspection staff productivity.The paper presents the scheme of intelligent terminal hardware and software system. It greatly optimizes the efficiency and the stability of the system. The STM32F103RCT6 is core CPU of the terminal's hardware platform, which is the 32-bit Cortex-M3 kernel embedded microprocessor. Periphery expands data storage FLASH, displaying LCD, data receiving and sending MODEM and other hardware module. All of these are the basis part of the hardware system. The paper will depict the design of the hardware in detail and the circuits. Based on the hardware platform, embedded real-time operating systemμC/OS-Ⅱis ported. And the whole software system is divided into several parts, including OS, FS, GUI, driver, application. The MODEM communication software will be in detail analysis. Finally, the paper proposed to improve the existing system of programs and measures, with a view to further work on the research results in better.
