Telecom Integrated Settlement Systems (ISS) plays key role in the operation of billing tasks in telecommunication industry. The ISS is not only responsible for processing of daily production data, also need to possess capability to discover patterns and knowledge from enormous volume of historic data to support managerial decisions effectively. Based on the practice of ISS and Data Mining, this dissertation presents the implementation situation of Data Mining Technology in ISS,in terms of its software development stages, including function requirements, analysis, design specifications, and etc.In general, data mining is the process of extracting patterns from data. Data mining is becoming an increasingly important tool to transform this data into information, which has commonly used in a wide range of computing domains, such as economy, engineering, scientific research and etc. As a recent emerged field of computational science, the theory and methodology of Data Mining has been recognized for its high academic value, and its derived technologies have been broadly applied to improve the capability of informational enterprise management.Settlement Analysis System(SAS) is a infrastructure software system for data mining of settlement works.SAS aims to extract valuable statistical results, discover customers'behavior and evaluate operating performance from historical communication records, including inter-network, toll, roaming and intelligent networks and other services. The followings list works done for my dissertation:1.Important textbooks and academic literatures were read before writing, which equited me with systematic view about data mining theories and methodologies. Meanwhile, knowledge of the Master program in Software Engineering were reviewed to facilitate the organization of dissertation around software engineering lifecycle.2.The facts of organizaitonal structure, functionality, work patterns, data formats, I/O about ISS were also investigated for achitecture scheme selection.3.Requirement analysis is confucted for the data mining component of Integrated Settlement System. This section presents function ranges, performance requirements, exception handling and user profiles for data mining subsystem.4.Arcitechture designs are provided with contents about arcitechture solution, module portfolio and interfaces. This section presents the big picture for the whole sytem.5.Specification designs are provided. Due to the theme of dissertation, this section focuses on data mining subsystem and OLAP engine instead of covering all modules. The specification designs descibe the logics and data structures of corresponding modules.6.In order to evaluate and validate Settlement Analysis Sytem in operations. The dissertation introduced two cases:1)amount & direction analys of toll communication flow and 2)product portfolio based on customer behavior to demostrate the usage of data mining technology, especially OLAP engine, in practical settlement analytical tasks.
