Abstract/Summary:
In the current Internet environment, IPv6, as a new version of Internet Protocol, has been recommended to solve the issue of the IPv4 address pool exhausted, and has forming large-scale deployment. However, the IPv6 network is separated from the global IPv4 internet, because of the incomplete compatibility. Several transition mechanisms and techniques have been proposed nowadays. And the corresponding transition equipments have been deployed to ensure the communication between users in the two networks. Although these transitional techniques have solved the network connectivity and the problem of communication, it results in new problems. For example, the mixture of IPv4 and IPv6 traffic flow leads to a complicated network environment, which thus brings difficulty in network monitoring. For another example, most of the new transitional equipments lack of an effective monitoring. How to monitor the network effectively has become an urgent challenge during the IPv4/IPv6 transition period.In order to solve the problems of the IPv4/IPv6 transition discussed above, a network monitoring system is designed which can be applied during the whole transition period. A scheme of monitoring for the transition system is proposed and provided. At the same time for specific transition technology (OpenVPN tunnel technology), the transition services index is studied and designed, and its corresponding data collection is implemented. The paper mainly includes the following tasks:1. Classify and analyze the current transition techniques. By extracting common points, the performance data collection points are designed for three transition mechanisms:dual stack, tunneling and translation technique.2,According to the characteristics of the network equipments during the transitional period, we proposed the data collection and monitoring for the transitional business in the new equipments, and formed a network monitoring which takes transition system as a management unit. Based on the analysis of overall demand, the IPv4/IPv6 transition monitoring management system is designed.3,After researching the methods of data collection, a data collection subsystem using the SSH transport channel is designed and implemented. Meanwhile, for specific transition technology (OpenVPN tunnel technique), the content of business data collection is designed, and its corresponding data collection is implemented.We deploy and test the software about OpenVPN data collection in reality, and the results shows that we have formed an effective monitoring of the OpenVPN transition. Finally, we point out the weak points during the process of design and implementation that need to be further researched and completed.
