With the rapid development of Internet, the Internet has become the most important component for International commercial cooperation, information exchange and development of new technologies.As the basis of network technology, network management technology has also continued to emerge.The network is transiting from IPv4 to IPv6.The IPv6 protocol most notable feature is the length of the address for the 128, so that the address range tends to infinity which means that the IPv6 topology management becomes more complex.The original network management tools can not solve this problem. As IPv6 Stateless Address auto-configuration and multicast address types of technology have changed, it is necessary to consider the unique IPv6 address allocation techniques.Another issue is:performance management, traffic management and fault management basically depend on the SNMP, flow statistics and ICMP. IPv6 network equipment must be able to support those protocols and technologies.However, network equipments which support the interface for these protocols are not uniform, so different device needs different network management software.In this transition phase,it is necessary to design a network management platform to manage the transition systems.This paper describes the existing IPv4 to IPv6 transition technologies in detail.This paper chooses OpenVPN tunnel transition system and IVI translation system as controlled systems by the network management system. This paper also describes the overall framework of technical features and specific functions of the dual-stack IPv4/IPv6 NMS network management system. This paper also shows the principles of SNMP and the implementation of the key modules of the SNMP in this network management system.In this paper, we design some private mib variables which indicate the character and key points of the OpenVPN tunnel technology and IVI technology. The programs processing these variables are also provided.
