IPv6 protocol has been gradually recognized as the next generation core network. There is an issue that how to achieve the transition from IPv4 to IPv6 smoothly. Among all of the programs, dual stack technology is most practical, its principle is simple and convenient, and it is widely used. At the same time, network security is urgency. Large-scale Internet attacks occur frequently, resulting in more and more serious harm. The couple mixed IPv4/IPv6 network is also facing the same network danger. Most of the attacks occur in their own loopholes. In order to avoid unnecessary losses, we can use patch management software installed on the patch. It is the most effective method of preventions.Since the popularization of Linux operation system, the security of Linux is concerned by more and more people. There is some patch management for Linux. But the main problem is that these patches are aimed at IPv4 networks, not the latest IPv6. Most of patch management is based on C/S structure, which leads to the overload of the server. In fact, the server will run slowly, even collapse, when several clients connect the server to download the patch simultaneously.A new management system of patch distribution is proposed in this paper, which is based on dual stack technology. The proposed scheme is applicable to the couple mixed IPv4/IPv6 network. For the advantage of P2P protocol in reducing the load of server, this paper utilizes the P2P principle to design the management system of patch distribution. Finally a Linux patch distribution system is implemented. The system can be used in the couple mixed IPv4/IPv6 network, which reduces the load of the central server and accelerates the speed of patch distribution.
