Then with the integration of the high definition and IPTV, the market of HD IPTV is becoming bigger and bigger.The player of IPTV set-top box is an very important software module of IPTV set-top box, and it plays the graphics and the sound.The paper has done researches on the high-definition player of IPTV set-top box.This paper firstly gives an introduction to the IPTV system structure and IPTV set-top-box, then compares several solutions of the player of IPTV set-top box and finally this paper adopts the solution based on STb7109 H.264/VC1 high definition single chip as the hardware platform of IPTV set-top box.And the paper also builds up environment in the STB,including cutting the kernel,configuring the network file system and serial port, compiling the STAPI and so on. Fully considering the robustness,portability and extensibility of the software structure, this paper designs and implements a high-definition player of IPTV set-top box software system and describes of the design of its modules.Lastly, the functional test is accomplished. The result of the test demonstrates the function of the high-definition player of IPTV set-top box is stable and reliable, which achieves the expected objective of the design. Besides, ST7109 is the single chip solution of STMicroeletronics whose set-top box IC chips are widely used inside this area. Consequently, in view of the rapid growth off the IPTV industry, the player researched in the paper possesses practical significance.
