STB Player And Related Application Systems

The STB Player is the most frequently used software by customers in IPTV system. It can play movies or music in external storage devices or in build-in hard disk, can play video on demand or watch live cast on the internet.This article introduces the history of soft player, and then the history of VCOM STB player. It describes the basic theory, the function, the layer style framework and the Application Programming Interface of the player. After that, the thesis show the detail of the player kernel process, the thinking of design, the structure of kernel, technical features, the main C++ class and derived class, some important technology of player development. The thesis introduces many application systems developed by use the api of the player. These applications show the value of the player by the way.Finally the author discusses some shortcomings of the player development, and gives us some suggestion.
