Discussion On Blog And The Construction Of Chinese Public Sphere

As the realization carriers and intrinsic mechanism of ideal public sphere, the relationship between mass media and public sphere has drew attention of scholars at home and abroad. In recent years, blog, a new media based on internet was born. It provides a new perspective to analyze the issue for us.This thesis mainly takes Habermas'theory of public sphere as starting point, and put it under Chinese society background to analyze blog, especially the performance of grass-roots blogs in public events with three necessary forming conditions of public sphere, and then discuss the potential effects and limitations of blog in the process of reconstruction of public sphere, simultaneously proposing some targeted solutions.My thesis will discuss as follows. The first part mainly reviews the specific conception of public sphere, analyzes the necessary conditions and the disintegration of the ideal public sphere, so as to lay a theory base for the full thesis.The second part mainly starts from the three necessary forming conditions of public sphere, combining the propagation characteristics of blog to prove the potential of it in the construction of public sphere.Part three takes the grass-roots blogs which performed excellently in a series of public events as research sample to excavate the public sphere potential through the effects they played.Part four analyzes the problems existed and the possible solution ways in the process of constructing blog public sphere.Studies suggest that groups of grass-roots blog committed to truth exploration and rational spirit criticism, fully highlighting the characteristic and potential to construct ideal public sphere. Meanwhile, due to unsound environment of democracy and constitutionality, as well as the immature development of blog itself, blog public sphere still needs to be improved in the future.
