Study On The Development Of Mobile Tv From Perspective Of Media Convergence

Mobile TV is a new medium,a new form of communication which combines digitalization and mobility. Mobile TV has television media's immediacy as well as portability, mobility and interactivity of Mobile media. The emergence of Mobile TV is not only the latest manifestation of Mobile media,but also a challenge and opportunity to traditional TV media. Moreover, Mobile TV is a form of media convergence of TV media and Mobile media. This paper is based on the aspect of media convergence to analyze Mobile TV, and to discuss the solution to the obstacles in the development of Mobile TVThere are four main parts in this paper. The first part introduces the research background and literature review.In the second part, the relation between media convergence and Mobile TV is analyzed. Media convergence Media convergence is a developing media form that is based on web and digital technology. It's multi-functional since different media are sharing information and cooperating. This concept consists of the convergence of content, web and organization behaviors. Based on this,the author considers it's necessity of media convergence between TV and Mobile from the merits and shortcomings. In this part,"medium is message"and"remedial medium"are the most important theories the author will use to analyze the possibility of the convergence of TV and Mobile.In the third part, analyzing the convergence of content, web and the mode of operation with the circumstance of media convergence are most important. To gain more information, analyzing the case which is about the mode of local CMMB mobile TV is needed.In the forth part, the situation of global and national Mobile TV is analyzed. The author will find the obstacles in the development of local Mobile TV, making a markable reference for the development of local Mobile TV on the successful experience abroad.In the current situation,national especially the local Mobile TV is at the beginning of development. There are many problems needs to be solved, such as the lack of content and the imperfection of operation mode, however, since the development strategies are planned out, the local Mobile TV's future is still very promising. Mobile TV is a product of media convergence. The origins and developments of it depends on the cooperation between telecommunication industry and broadcasting and TV industry which can improve the development of Mobile TV by breaking industry barrier,making communication, treating convergence as main purpose.
