With the sustained rapid development of network, the network traffic increasing geometric, people reconsider their service quality, reliability and efficiency because the current routing protocol is essentially no connection, but only based on destination IP address and the shortest path without considering the application requirements and dynamic characteristics of the network, resulting in low utilization of network resources and network congestion frequently. In order to improve utilization of network resources, reduce network congestion and enhance network performance, traffic engineering came into being. The network traffic engineering which based on Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS for short) use network resource in the precondition of satisfied with the quality of service QoS for better adapting new traffic requirement, enhance network performance comprehensively. Constrained routing technology is the key to implement traffic engineering.This text discussion and analysis the traffic engineering based on MPLS deeply, and research the key technology: constraints routing algorithm. This article includes the following aspects: The basic principle of MPLS technology, and analysis how to implement MPLS TE based on MPLS technology, summarized its advantages; Analysis the current constraints routing algorithm, and put forward a kind of Enhanced Constraint Select Route (ECSR for short) using on a certain ATM switches, it can maintain the whole network topology and link state information, choose a routing which satisfied the user constraints condition, making the entire network to a certain balanced flow.The Enhanced Constraint Select Route has the following results:①Using a centralized mechanism for mobile with the current constraints routing algorithm, and proposed a new ECSR protocol than the original algorithm. Setting one node of the network as the center node, this protocol realizes collecting and maintaining the network topology.②This protocol provide a network with high-quality to meet the shortest route and the maximum bandwidth route which satisfied the constraints condition for users, to improve the network performance;③This protocol can adapt to the networking requirements of narrowband network with arbitrary topology and supports rapid deployment and adjustment of network. It can allocate traffic rapidly, accurately, efficiently and dynamically according to the network topology. It has high survivability and network self-healing ability to provide users with a secure and reliable network.Now this research achievement has been applied to a kind of ATM switch. Under the narrow-band networking condition, the network using this kind of ATM switch as the core node or access node can assure high operation access rate and can support multiple kinds of business data, so it can satisfy requirements of communication networks in the new period.
