Exploration Of The Reasons For Loss Of Chinese Ancient Medical Books

Historical records, local gazetteers, bibliographies and literature recorded and the existing Chinese medical books reveal that a large number of ancient medical books are in the loss. To a certain degree,the loss affect the rich and accumulation of Chinese medicine theory and experience and inheriting of Chinese medicine academic . Researchers of TCM and librarians should attach great importance to reasons for the loss and actively prevent. However, through searchig journals and web, the papers and works for the reasons of missing of TCM books has not been yet discovered.In order to do better for old books of collection, protection, management, dissemination, this paper by the approach of philology, bibliography, version of the science, history, analysing the loss and the existing of ancient medical books, attempt to probe the causes of loss of ancient medical works and TCM academic is lost due to the extent of losses.The results show that: the longer the era, the missing more weight, retained less. However, the absolute value of the number of missing, the closer the age, the number more greater, which is proportional to the output of books. Factors that result in loss of many ancient medical books are much more, written record, preserve, inconvenience of dissemination is the key of missing before the Han Dynasty. Medical books because of insufficient funding and other reasons, without block-printed, only manuscripts, then re-copies of rare, are vulnerable missing. Block-printed more most, more widely spread, the greater the chance of lifetime. National governments and the rulers attach great importance to ancient works for implementation of protection policies, protection act, then increase collections, reduce the loss of the books. War, unrest and other social unrest, in many ways reduce the production of medical books and seriously accelerate the loss of them, this is an important factor in loss of medical works. And people used to think that the "secret and not pass" is without any factual basis, not a major factor in loss of medical books.The most important reason for loss of medical books is a natural out in line with the laws of survival of the fittest. Over time, changes in disease spectrum, raising the level of academic medicine, those with low academic value, scope of application of small works phase out the stage of history.The new books on the basis of absorbing the essential parts of the old, more innovative, more practical, and easier spread, more attention and protection, and thus fewer lose opportunities.TCM academic content with the medical books of the change ,that is metabolism, continue to enrich, improve, and gradually becoming more mature. The missing of medical books is subject to certain loss of intellectual content, but generally speaking, there is no formation of a major, serious academic deficiencies.Manuscripts of medical books except for a few books, the majority of academic value is not high; recorded in local gazetteers occasionally bombastic composition; Historical records, bibliographies and a variety of bibliographic literature are some inaccuracies analysis. However, the large quantity of the recorded transcripts of medical books, local history and other documents contained in the bibliographic record increase the number of the loss of membership, adding to people's sense of loss of medical books, affecting our right judge on the volume of missing and academic losses, it should be realistic and attitudes and ideas of dialectical materialism to be objectively analyzed.The results inspired, prompted us to strengthen the Chinese books in the collection, collation and collection, conservation, improve the management level, to prevent the emergence of new loss.
