Data collection is the most front-end in the factory automation, which determines the whole factory automation system implementation precisely, rapidly and completely. At present, the data collection is mainly developed to the directions of the measurement accuracy, speed and cost of various functions to achieve these directions.With the development of micro-electronics technology, computer technology, control technology and digital communication technologies, the current data collection technology has much advancement compared with the initial development. High-speed, real-time data collection is very important to applications in motion control, explosive detection, medical equipment, fast production process and the field of substation automation. However, these fields have some growing demands for high-speed data collection, which is far above the current level that can actually be achieved. With the development of computer networks and Ethernet technology, more and more users want to use computer networks to achieve data collection. In ensuring the accuracy, speed and some data collection functions, users can easily complete a simple-to-multipoint remote data collection. Therefore, the current data collection has a new direction of development (long-range, multi-endpoint and high-speed data collection).Aimed at a long-range and multi-endpoint data collection, we have proposed 10M/100M Ethernet-based high-speed data collection system design. After 10M/100M Ethernet data collection system design and research, this paper has demonstrated the use of Ethernet communication for data collection and transmission reliability and feasibility. And on this basis, we have added a variety of data collection, control functions and data analysis. This paper describes the details of the hardware and software development, and describes the experimental results and related functions implementation in detail.
