After ten years of development, the Bluetooth wireless technology has been widely applied to a variety of electronic products and has brought greatly convenience to people’s daily life. The Bluetooth 4.0 specification released in 2010 is a milestone in the history of Bluetooth. It combines traditional Bluetooth, Bluetooth high speed and low-power Bluetooth technical specifications. The biggest feature of Bluetooth 4.0 is low power consumption. when it is no need for data transmission, the Bluetooth device is in sleep mode for power consumption. It applies for wireless products which have strict requirements on power consumption. The Bluetooth 4.0 technology is widely used in monitoring, medical fitness and other fields.In some occasions for real-time acquisition and monitoring data, using Bluetooth technology for data transmission can not only overcome the problem of wiring, but also reduce power consumption of the entire system.According to the need of wireless data acquisition, the system uses bluetooth 4.0 technology to transfer wireless data, then transmits data to the remote monitoring terminal by the Ethernet technology. The main contents are as follows.Firstly, the current development of Bluetooth technology in the last decade is analyzed and the Bluetooth technology is compared with several types of short-range wireless transmission protocol and the architecture of Bluetooth low energy protocol stack is described in detail.Then, the system for wireless data collection is designed based on Bluetooth 4.0 technology. the focus is processor unit module, data collection module and Bluetooth gateway module. It analyzes hardware design of the functional modules. To meet the demand of wireless data collection, data acquisition modules use battery and gateway modules use power adapter. So the design of hardware circuit use two lines of power supply. The Bluetooth Gateway is a combination of Bluetooth protocol and TCP / IP protocol and it is responsible for Bluetooth wireless data transmission between the Bluetooth network and the Ethernet.Next, the software design of each functional module is analyzed, including data collection module, Bluetooth 4.0 module and Bluetooth-TCP/IP gateway. The software design of data collection module focus on sensor design and drivers; The software design of Bluetooth 4.0 module uses TI’s Bluetooth 4.0 BLE software stack, focusing on how to establish a connection between two Bluetooth 4.0 module and how to send and receive application data. It analyzes wireless packet by constructing a Bluetooth protocol analyzer; The software design of TCP / IP gateway module focuses on socket programming.Finally, the various functional modules of the system are tested and the test results were analyzed and summarized.
