With the rapid development of computer communication and multimedia network technology, the traditional video surveillance system are also constantly renewing and developing. In today's wireless network development, compared with other video monitoring systems, wireless video monitoring system has incomparable advantage. The defect of using cable network, such as the difficult of arranging network wires, hard to expand and a long cycle to installation, are overcomed. Wireless video monitoring system will become the developing mainstream of video surveillance system. This field has been researched by many foreign and domestic institutions and research units at present, and some achievements has achievedBased on further studying and analyzing the technology development and research status of network video surveillance, coding and wireless mesh network (WMN), combined with the new requirements and features of the CAPF's monitoring duty missions, a set of automated CAPF Duty-Monitor system was established with video surveillance, wireless transmission, system settings, remote control, data processing and alarm linkage. The system is composed of three major parts, which are network systems, hardware and software systems. The network system consists of wireless mesh networks and private networks within army. The network and monitoring equipment between the squadron and mission post which belong to squadron are connected by 802.11a/b/g (WMN), the communication equipments between squadrons and detachments, detachments and corps are connected by private networks within army. To suit the needs of real-time transmission with audio, video and data, the Azalea MSR4000 wireless routers are used to construct wireless mesh network in this system and MRTS technology is adopted in MAC layer. The NS2 simulative experiment results show that the system can well satisfy the performance requirements of the current video surveillance. The hardware systems consist of monitoring center management platform servers, television walls, detachment and squadron monitoring clients and multi-network front information collecting equipment; the software systems consist of user management modules, network transmission modules, system configuration modules, video and audio playback modules, PTZ control modules, alarm modules and database systems. By the support with the network system, the functions such as the collection of alarm information, caching, encoding, storage, monitoring, systems management, PTZ controlling are realized by the hardware and the software system. The advanced technologies which include computer network, Java, VC++, Winsock2.0, IIS, Web server, MPEG-4 and H.264 and so on are comprehensively utilized in the process to implement the system. The results of trial experiment show that the work status of the system is stable, the real-time performance and practicability of video surveillance system are remarkably raised. The expectative goals and demands of the system are achieved.
