In the information era, on one hand, we need a higher data transferring speed and a wider data bandwidth, on the other hand, the reduction of the power consumption has been greatly concerned by the electronic products(especial the portable products). So, we urgently need research and develop an effective transmission technology, involving both high-speed data transmission and the good quality with low power, low noise and cost saving, which are of the important theory and the project applied value.Low Voltage Differential Signaling (LVDS) technology is the available method to implement higher speed and lower power data transmission. Firstly, this dissertation has researched deeply on system level, mainly concentrating on the high speed LVDS interface. And then, a LVDS high-speed serial transceiver with 2.5Gbps data rate has been designed and implemented in 0.13um standard CMOS technology. Simulation results by Hspice indicate that the LVDS transceiver achieves the design target with the correct function.In this dissertation, some innovation and technical difficulties already solved are listed as follows:1. The common mode feed-back circuit is optimized, thereby the LVDS driver can make the common voltage stable at high operating frequency. A CMOS voltage reference with simple structure and small area is introduced.2. A new pre-emphasis circuit is designed for the high operating frequency system, which can minimize the signal distortion caused by the effect of the inter-symbol interference and lengthen the transmission distance.3. A novel LVDS receiver structure, which is composed of a limiting amplifier, a hysteresis comparator, a CMOS voltage reference, shaping buffer circuit and Fail-Safe circuits, can reduce the discrepancy in the different simulation situation. 4. A limiting amplifier is proposed, which not only restrain the common change, but also offer the input different signal with the same swing and common voltage to the hysteresis comparator, and can reduce the error possibility as well.
