In the COLD ROLLING MILL of BAOSTEEL, main function of 2030 CCL process computers is to meet requirements from foundamental automation control system, producing control system and technique,and these process computers can fullfil any work during the technique procedure from entry of material to the output of production. After running continuously for more than 10 years,the equipment is auld and out of date, which brings up difficulties for maintenance and development of new functions and techniques, so it's necessary to improve the equipments.In this thesis, the system design of the CCL L2 (process computer level) is first introduced. Then, system function configurations and relative interfaces of process computer as well as design schema, function configuration and data flow of the new system are briefly explained. At that, the main function modules, such as the communication mudule L1 and L3,the material tracing module, process setting module, which are to be improved are specified. At last, design of the program frames, inner module functions, corresponding database and interfaces of inner communication messages are detailedly illustrated, and program flow charts of main functions are present.2030 CCL process computers have been running well after it's adopted. It's very statble with CPU load below 40% and running ration above 98.5%.It contributes a lot to improve the productive efficiency and product quality, and make it possible to develop subsequent new productions.
