In large rotating machinery and CNC processing area, fault diagnosis measurement system always are used to do vibration signal acquisition, processing and analysis. Currently, the measurement system have two basic forms: analog and digital. The latter with advantages of simple operation and rich function is widely used, with which analog devices can not compare.Taking advantage of high calculation speed of DSP, this paper has researched a design of a portable instrument which can diagnose equipment fault in real-time based on DSP. The instrument gets DSP and MCU processor together to establish a cooperative system which can complete complex control and data processing functions. As an arithmetic processor in this system, TMS320VC5410A deals with the mathematical analysis. As the control processor, MCS-51 coordinates the peripheral circuit module. The system introduces a modular design with functions like data acquisition, data pretreatment, data analysis and LCD display.This paper has researched the situation of data acquisition system and DSP technology, home and abroad, then demonstrated the hardware components of this portable instrument, and at last introduced the various hardware modules of the design, including vibration signal front-end processing module, A/D sampling module, LCD display and touch module, and digital signal processing module.
