On The Development Of Artificial Intelligence In The Perspective Of Philosophy

In 1956, John McCarthy proposed at the Dartmouth Conference that"every aspect of learning or any other feature of intelligence can be so precisely described that a machine can be made to simulate it"and coined the term "Artificial Intelligence". For only over 50 years from the proposal of Artificial Intelligence, we have been amazed repeatedly at the progress presented before us in the development of robot. Artificial Intelligence has surpassed human intelligence in many aspects. It is necessary for the advancement of human society and it has been changing the progress of human society uncompromisingly in the way of 0 and 1.However, when we are cheering for the development in Artificial Intelligence, we are still puzzled at these problems: Can it eventually be like human intelligence? Will it surpass human intelligence? What role will human intelligence play in the future social development? In the development of Artificial Intelligence, many scientists have announced to the world the probability of Artificial Intelligence replacing human intelligence and presented a picture of robot"ruling"human on the basis of their research findings in their own field which they take as a pride. Further, with each breakthrough in science and research of Artificial Intelligence, the above-mentioned viewpoint has been exaggerated over and over again. All these problems existing in the research of Artificial Intelligence not only influence its own development directly, but they also make a strong impact to the progress of human society.Since human society cannot advance without Artificial Intelligence, we have to reflect on the development of Artificial Intelligence: What is Artificial Intelligence? Why shall we develop Artificial Intelligence? How to develop Artificial Intelligence? What's the orientation of the development of Artificial Intelligence? I think it is proved that those problems cannot be solved from some scientific research in a certain subject. In fact, the research on the development of Artificial Intelligence shall be made from the perspective of philosophy. This paper attempts to discuss the remarkable problems relating to the development of Artificial Intelligence with the application of view of dialectical materialism, study the purpose and value of Artificial Intelligence in human development based on the appearance of human intelligence, its nature and social development, research the relation between human intelligence and Artificial Intelligence as well as that between human society and the"world"of robot, seeking for an appropriate conclusion on the problems associated with the development of Artificial Intelligence in the perspective of dialectical materialism: with the overall development of human as the precondition and requirement, Artificial Intelligence shall be fully developed and applied to satisfy the demands for the development of human society, thus facilitating the advancement and development of science and human society.
