Research And Implementation Of Secure Access Solution For WLAN Mesh Network

Wireless Local Area Network makes people gradually get rid of the restrictions of cable and implement mobile office initially. Moreover, with the characteristics of simple configuration, low cost, convenience of installing and extending, stable and reliable performance and the increasing data transmission efficiency year by year, more and more people prefer to use it. In recent years,a kind of wireless multi-hop distributed network- Wireless Mesh Network(WMN) is moving into people's lives gradually, which has the merits such as self-organizing, self-configuration, self-recovery, high-capacity, highly efficiency and so on. As an emerging technology for last-mile broadband access network, WMN can make our lives far away from the restriction of cable further more and get much more mobility. WLAN Mesh Network (WMN) is the integration of WLAN and wireless mesh networks. This new architecture has the features of both WLAN and Mesh networks and is one of the direction of the development of future wireless broadband, which attracts much attention from lots of scholars.As the same with other wireless network technologies, WMN is also suffering from security problems. Besides the same problems to traditional wireless networks, the safety issues are even more complicated because of its unique topology. However, the current research about security problems of WLAN Mesh is still far away from enough. This dissertation is mainly about one part of the security problem: how to access the WMN securely?In this paper, we analyze the security challenges the wireless mesh network has to face and compare some common secure access solutions used in WLAN, and then describe the basic concepts of WMN and MSA, where MSA is a secure access solution used in the IEEE 802.11s.Later we analyze the safety problems which will be brought in when we use WAPI protocol in WMN directly, propose a modified WAPI protocol which is applicable for WMN backbone network and then design a WMN secure access solution based on the improved WAPI protocol.Finally, we implement the designed solution initially and achieve the function modules that construct the applicant MP.
