Research And Design Of Authentication Protocol In WLAN Mesh Network

Thanks to its own advantages, WLAN Mesh networks will have widely applications in the military and the commercial field. But the open wireless communications channel knock-down its rapid development at the same time, so solving the security problems is an urgent work. To develop a stable, safe and efficient authentication protocol is essential to solve the security problem of WLAN Mesh network.This paper analyzes the security attacks and security requirements of WLAN Mesh networks, the authentication protocol in WLAN Mesh networks including that authentication mechanism of 802.11i-based, password-based and signature-based. Based on the WAI protocol, an effective authentication scheme used for inter-Mesh STA in WLAN Mesh networks was presented. The scheme uses Neighbor Group, Ticket and symmetric encryption technology to achieve fast authentication between Mesh STAs. And then the key management technology for the scheme was also designed. The protocol interaction process was gived out and so did the analyzing of security on the shceme. The efficiency of the scheme was proved by comparing our scheme with the existing protocols.Lastly, in order to validate the scheme, the computer simulation program was used. The successful operation of the system verifies this scheme, and solves the security problems to a certain extent.
