Based On Workflow System Of Clinical Pathway Computer Support System

In recent years, clinical pathway has been a new topic in the medical field. Clinical pathway as a new mode of medical treatment, it used standardized and process-oriented treatment programs to real-time control the medical treatment process, and it can improve the treatment quality constantly. Consequently it can effectively restrict the treatment cost, decrease the ineffective spending, and increase the patient satisfaction.Clinical pathway has a deep theoretical foundation in China. Plus, it has been used in many hospitals nation-wide. Although it gained some progress, it also exposed some problems. Nowadays, the administration and control of clinical pathway are based on the pattern of manual and paper documents in majority hospital. This pattern exist many problems. The introduction of workflow technology and rule-engine technology provided a new way of thinking for the clinical pathway. Workflow technology completed the execution and monitoring of the overall treatment by means of dividing the clinical pathway treatment process into good mission, role, rule and procedure. Nevertheless, rule-engine technology provided better flexibility and scalability to maximize the power of workflow by means of controlling the access rules,routing rules and task-assign rules of the clinical pathway process, so as to reach the goal that regulating the clinical pathway and improving the treatment service level and work efficiency.This paper comes up with the concept, significance and research status of clinical pathway at first, and then deeply analyzed and researched the workflow technology and rule-engine technology. Then it proposed that the clinical pathway computer support system which is based on workflow and rule-engine. And the key point is to work out its system structure and each module design, and accomplish three core modules in the system which are workflow module, rule service module and rule base administration module. Finally applied it to the Standardization Rehabilitation Diagnosis Information System of Pearl River Hospital.In this paper, it put the workflow administration technology and rule-engine technology into the clinical pathway computer support system. Workflow administration technology actualized the process-oriented and regularization of clinical pathway administration, and improved the operation efficiency of clinical pathway, by the meantime it also saved the operation cost. What's more, it brought much flexibility and soft to clinical pathway administration by means of working in coordination with rule-engine technology. The clinical pathway computer support system provided a powerful computer support platform for the promoting and application of clinical pathway, and beneficial reference for the Medical system design which based on clinical pathway.
