With the development of mobile communications and computer technology, mobile smart devices are widely used in daily life, which makes mobile office become a trend. Wireless data synchronization business emerging from mobile office is not only an important application of mobile computing, but also one of indispensable businesses in the 3G era. As the industry's only general-purpose data synchronization protocol, SyncML ensures that users can synchronize network data via any mobile device, and use any network to accomplish data synchronization in mobile devices.Currently the synchronization and backup of mobile phones'data is the most important purpose of SyncML protocol. However, the difference between the operating system of mobile phones makes it more difficult to develop software in the clients, and hinders the expansion of mobile data synchronization service. In order to solve the problems on portability and universality of clients' software and to improve data transfer rate, the paper designs an data synchronization system which is easier to use and realize. The system chooses USIM as client-side software platform and SyncML as synchronization standard. It is also based on BIP and high-speed data transmission channels.Based on the research of SyncML protocol and characteristics of USIM Application, this paper will design an data synchronization system with client/server structure. On the client side, there is a kind of development kit called SimSyncLib for client application's development on USIM card, which provides public operational library. Using SimSyncLib, the paper will design phonebook synchronization software on USIM. On the server side, the synchronic server will be designed based on J2EE architecture. In addition, for solving data transmission problems via the SMS transmission channel based on short message technology, the paper will propose a BIP-based and high-speed GPRS or UTMS data transmission channel, which can be used to transfer synchronic data and to improve the data transmission rate, data interoperability and transmission reliability. Fianally in view of potential security risks in data synchronization, the paper will propose a security's solution, whicn uses the PSK-TLS(pre-shared key transport layer security)protocol, and combining with symmetric encryption and DSA digital signature technology to ensure secure transmission of information and data integrity.
