Nowadays our society is full of information. Large amount of data needs to be delivered in our daily life, however the stored data is required to keep the same when information exchange has been completed in different devices. This is a technology called data synchronization. An address list change on the PC in the office or at home following with the change in the mobile phone is an example for the advantage of this technology. SyncML as a standardized data synchro-nization protocol has been accepted widely in the mobile communication industry, and can accomplish the process of synchronization among any networks, data types, as well as devices. Therefore it has a promising and valuable application.The main content of this paper is data synchronization design on the basis of SyncML protocol. During the period of research study, a lot of literature on SyncML data synchronization protocol has been referred. This paper emphasizes on the implement of software that accomplishes the process of data synchro-nization with SyncML protocol in communication devices, and several methods are presented to optimize SyncML data synchronization protocol. Firstly, this paper introduces the background of SyncML data synchronization applications as well as their development tendency, and analyses the structure of SyncML protocol stacks together with its protocol components. After that the paper also discusses relations between compositions of SyncML protocol. Secondly, this paper studies the principles of SyncML data synchronization protocol, the key technologies and process of data synchronization with SyncML protocol. Thirdly, SyncML data synchronization software module in the terminal is designed, and the functions and performance of the software designed in the terminal are discussed. Finally, with the results of implement and test, suggestions are presented to optimize the design of SyncML data synchronization specifications.In addition, this article also analyses operations and new functions of SyncML data synchronization protocol.
